From: NAQCC WPA Chapter on the USS Requin
It’s been a tradition for the WPA Chapter to do a subpedition to the Requin on the day before Thanksgiving each year. However it must be a bit different this year because the sub won’t be available then.
So this year it will be the day AFTER Thanksgiving (Friday November 24).
Mike (KC2EGL) and I(K3WWP) and perhaps a couple other chapter members will arrive at the sub a little before 1500Z and start operating as soon as we get set up – hopefully at 1500Z or a few minutes after at the latest.
The Requin has only one antenna and hence only one band at a time can be used. We’ll use the following schedule for the first 90 minutes:
1500-1530Z 7039 +/-
1530-1600Z 10117 +/-
1600-1630Z 14059 +/-
After that we’ll go with the band(s) that seem the most active. We’ll stay there until activity dies out or the sub closes, whichever comes first. We’ll use the sub call of NY3EC (NAQCC # 8483). QSL via the info on QRZ for NY3EC. We’ll try to keep the QSOs short so everyone who wants to work the sub gets a chance.
I hope that covers it all. If not, email naqcc33 -at- windstream -dot- net with the
subject “USS Requin Question”.
