National Hurricane Center Annual Communications Test to be Held on May 28
WX4NHC, the amateur radio station at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, Florida, will hold its annual communications test on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 9 AM to 5 PM EDT (1300 – 2100 UTC).
The event is designed to evaluate WX4NHC’s amateur radio equipment and antennas at the headquarters in Florida, and to give operators an opportunity to evaluate their home equipment prior to this year’s Atlantic hurricane season, which starts on June 1 and runs through November 30. This event allows ham radio operators worldwide to hone their amateur radio communications skills for times of severe weather.
Brief contacts will be available on many frequencies and modes, as well as the exchange of signal reports and basic weather data with any station in any location.
WX4NHC will be on the air on HF, VHF, UHF, 2- and 30-meter APRS, and Winlink at firstname.lastname@example.org (subject must contain “//WL2K”).
The Hurricane Watch Net 14.325 MHz frequency will be active for most of the test, as will 7.268 MHz, depending on propagation. Depending on man-made noise, the net may move to different frequencies, and participants can locate the net using one of the DX spotting networks, such as the DX Summit website at www.dxsummit.fi.

The Twenty-Fifth Annual Rachel Carson Trail Challenge will take place on June 18, 2022, the Saturday nearest the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. The Challenge is a 35-mile long, one-day, sunrise to sunset endurance hike on nearly the entire rugged Rachel Carson Trail. Unlike a footrace, the “challenge” is not to win, but to endure, to finish the hike in one day. This time, the Challenge starts in North Park at sunrise and ends 35 miles later in Harrison Hills Park. The deadline for finishing is sunset, 8:54 PM or 15 hours 4 minutes, whichever comes first.
They are going to need ham radio volunteers at many of the check point along the trail. There are many different shift from morning to late afternoon shift. Check out the signup form below to see where and at what times the shift are at. If you’d like to help out, review the Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities and sign up!
NOTE: It will require to sign in use “rctc” for both user-id and password.

National Police Week Special Event – K3FBI – 0000z May 15 through 2359z May 21
National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support, while allowing law enforcement, survivors, and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. National Police Week 2022 in United States will begin on Sunday, May 15 and ends on Saturday, May 21

K3FBI – The FBI AMATEUR RADIO ASSOC (FBIARA) was formed Circa. 1991 from a group of amateur radio operators who were FBI employees and would get together on the air. This became known as the “BuNet”. K3FBI became the club call in the fall of 1998, just in time to be an official part of the FBI’s 90th anniversary.

The Department of Defense will host this year’s Armed Forces Day (AFD) Cross-Band Test, scheduled for May 14th 2022. This annual event is open to all licensed amateur radio operators, and will not impact any public or private communications. For more than 50 years, military and amateur stations have taken part in this event, which is only an exercise scenario, designed to include hobbyist and government radio operators alike.
The AFD Cross-Band Test is a unique opportunity to test two-way communications between military communicators and radio stations in the Amateur Radio Service (ARS), as authorized in 47 CFR 97.111. These tests provide opportunities and challenges for radio operators to demonstrate individual technical skills in a tightly-controlled exercise scenario that does not impact any public or private communications.
Military stations will transmit on selected military frequencies and will announce the specific ARS frequencies monitored. All times are ZULU (Z), and all frequencies are Upper Side Band (USB) unless otherwise noted. The frequencies used for the test will not impact any public or private communications, and will not stray outside the confines of the exercise.
The following stations will be making two way radiotelephone contacts with stations in the ARS between the time periods listed on the frequencies listed in Kilohertz below.

Steel City ARC has now join in with “Log Book Of The World” and have upload 14,547 contact into the log book. So you can find W3KWH contact now in LOTW, eQSL, QRZ locations. The first contact you will find in the log book dates back to 1973 to the most recent Carnegie Library special event station just last month. I am going to create a directory called “ADI log Files” on the “Z” drive that if you work any contest you can save the “adi” file there and it would be uploaded.
