Welcome to RemoteHams.com, your online remote base community.
Steel City is currently going with the Remote Hams software. It has several advantages in that you only need this one piece of software for audio and control functions. When using VNC access you will also need Skype for the audio. Once you install the software you can search for “W3KWH” to find what remotes are on the air at the time. We have two HD radios The Kenwood TS-2000 is remote 1, and the Kenwood TS-590 is remote 2. The third remote is the Icom IC-9700 VHF/UHF/1.2 Ghz.
When connecting for the first time you will need to upload a copy of your license and ask permission to access and transmit. You can speed up the acceptance by sending an email to either Christine or Karl we will log in and add you as a club member. {Please be patient with use we are busy people}
Below are the set up instructions You can find more information about Remote Hams from their website here: http://www.remotehams.com/

Make sure you request access and when your done with that email Karl, Patrick, or Christine that you have requested permission and we will ok that request then. It is an good thing to go into all three remote and do the request that way we can approve access to all three at the same time.
Notes on Remote 3 – Icom IC-9700

When using the remote 3 Icom IC-9700 with repeaters make sure you enable TONE and tune the CTCSS to the correct PL tone. Also make sure you have the repeater shift correct for the repeater you are using. Like wise when on simplex make sure repeater shift is off.
